Message Cavitation cannot occur in air. Cavitation occurs when a propeller blade spins fast enough that very low pressure zones form behind the blade. In a liquid flow, this allows the liquid in the low pressure zones to boil, changing to gas. The expansion of this gas damages the blades over time, leaving pockmarks. It also affects the performance of the propeller. If the flow is a gas already, it obviously can't boil.
